Sunday Dinner with Grandma

August 28, 2011
We've been very blessed to have Skype to keep in touch with our family back in Utah. It seems like every Sunday we make a point to get on the computer and talk with both my family and Joel's family back home. It's a lot of fun for the kids to see everyone. When I say to Van "Do you want to talk to Grandma?" He runs to the computer, tries to open it up and says "Hi! Mama!" It really is the cutest thing.
Tonight we had dinner with Grandma Sandy. Van made sure he shared his vegetables. However, shirts are overrated.

Charlee Cheese

Oh, and did I mention that I have the prettiest girl in the world too? Because I do.

Chocolate Kisses

I am pretty sure I have the cutest boy in the world. That is all.

It's Raining, It's Pouring...

August 28, 2011

We had some fun rain and thunderstorms this past week. And, of course the kids had to run through it in their nakeds. The rain out here is very different from Utah, it seems to come down in sheets and then almost instantly stop and then start again. It's also crazy that it rains like this when it's 90 degrees outside. Something we are also NOT used to.

Nick's Park

August 12, 2011

The weather has been awesome lately! We haven't had to run the AC 24/7 and we've been able to spend more time outside without dying of heat stroke. Most of our days consist of going to Nick's Park right down the street. The kids love, it and never seem to get sick of playing here. Charlee calls it "Castle Park" I suppose because it kind of looks like a castle. Charlee gets pretty bummed out if there aren't many kids to play with, and Van is pretty content just chasing Charlee around the entire time.

Sisterly Love

August 10, 2011

This is what I get out of the shower to this morning. Van is screaming bloody murder and Charlee keeps saying "Van! Van! Hold still!" She's managed to take Mardi's leash and tie her brother to the chair with it. Oh my! And it's only 8 AM.

Good Morning!

August 8, 2011
6:45 AM

Joel's leaving for work, the kids are up (yay), the dog needs to go out, Charlee wants to take him out, Mom's not dressed yet, Joel lets Mardi and Charlee out, he's on his way back inside...

Calmly, Joel says to me: I want you to take a close look at the deck.
Yes, those are Charlee's poo pellets on the deck.
This is my life.
Good Morning!!

Romantic Night Out

August 5, 2011

Why haven't we done this more often? Going on dates has been near impossible since we've moved out here. Somehow steak on the grill, grilled vegetables, eaten over citronella candle, in the backyard with the sweet ambiance of screeching cicada's in the background was SO romantic. We definitely need to make this happen more often. Yes, we are lame.

Hobbies

So, Joel and I have both been trying to find ourselves new hobbies. And the kids are following along! I just got done with this oil painting of Charlee. Joel has been drumming in the garage on his drum pad, with hopes to get a drum set in the near future. We're not bored at all.

Long Days of Summer

So, needless to say, this town is only SO big, there is only SO much you can take your kids to do. Especially when it has been so bloody hot outside. Let's just say we've tried our best to be creative and have fun on these hot summer days.
To explain the pictures of Van in Charlee's swimsuit... It was around 8 AM, we are all getting dressed for the day, and Van pulls her swimsuit out of the drawer, walks it over to me, and sits down in my lap wanting me to put it on. So I do. Then we went out in the backyard for a little dip, since it was already 90 degrees outside. That's it.
Let's just say Joel was NOT too happy when he saw his only son in a girl's swimsuit on Facebook that night. I couldn't help myself. I am just THAT bored. I posted a picture of him in the pool out back with the label "Charlee's new friend Vanessa." As Joel is trying not to smile, he's saying as angrily as possible to prove just how serious he is, "Don't you ever dress our son up like that again! It's not funny!" To which I replied, "Umm, yes it is! Look how cute he is! Just look at it! How can you not smile?" I think I am hilarious. He knows it's funny too. He doesn't scare me with his angry voice.

Grandma Sandy's Visit

Grandma Sandy just came to visit. When we went to the Bloomington Airport to pick her up, Charlee was SO excited. She spotted her from a distance exiting the gate, and ran full force towards her screaming "Grandma!" When she reached her, they embraced in a huge hug! It really was precious! One thing is for sure, Charlee sure has missed Grandma!
While Sandy was here, we didn't really do anything elaborate, we just did the everyday things that we do to keep ourselves busy while Daddy is working. Going to the park, playing in the pool in the backyard, going to the Monticello pool, morning runs to Hardee's for cinnamon raisin biscuits, and watching for fireflies in the yard were just a few of the things we did with Grandma while she was here.

The pictures of Grandma here riding the bike with the kids in tow speaks for itself. Good times I say! We can't wait for her to come back in September over Labor Day.
