Uncle Tommy!
April 16, 2013
So, Tommy stopped by our home on the way to North Carolina. He is going to sell security systems with Jared this summer. He travelled through some pretty good storms but finally made it safe and sound. He was able to stay a couple days. We went to the mall and got these cute shots in the photo booth. So precious! We can't wait for him to stop by again at the end of the summer!

More Easter Eggs & Easter Egg Hunts
March 23 and 30, 2013
Joel took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt in Monticello Saturday morning while I was recovering from work. Joel said the kids had a great time! He got some cute pictures. The following weekend Joel wanted to check out the BMX race track in Farmer City. We all went to see Dad jump his bike and when we got there realized that they were having an Easter Egg Hunt as well. Since we didn't come prepared with baskets or anything we had to improvise ( notice the kids awesome baskets). I thought it was funny that Charlee gathered all the pink, purple and orange eggs while Van preferred the green, blue and yellow ones.
The kids enjoyed coloring eggs at home and what really took me by surprise was how eager Charlee was to peel and eat the hard boiled eggs when we were done. No need to slice them or add any salt or pepper, she would just pretty much eat them whole.

Happy Birthday Van!
January 10, 2013
What kind of a mother doesn't have a birthday party for her 3 year old son?! Van, I'm sorry baby! We DID take you shopping for some toys. Dad really wanted to get you a bike for your birthday but you were NOT having it. You didn't care much for a bike. You went for the dinosaur toys, the Spider-Man, Bat-Man, boy toys. Grandma was here for your birthday and you enjoyed spending time with her.
Van you are still a Mommy's boy. I really need to record your sweet little voice. Out of the blue, you'll say, "I love you, Mom." To say that my heart melts every time you say those words is an understatement. If I say it first, you'll say, "I love you more!" I've truly been blessed with such a sweet, smart boy. I want to freeze time and keep you this little forever. You sneak into our bedroom at night and like to cuddle. When I work at night and things are slow I want so badly to be home to snuggle with you. You like everything boy. You want the blue bowl for cereal. You play like dinosaurs. You wrestle. You pretend to know karate. You are rough. You are my little man, and I'm so grateful to have you in my life.

Utah Trip
When we heard about Grandma Sherry passing away we immediately got in the car and decided we'd road trip it to Utah. When I say 'immediately' I mean that very literally. We'd been in a funk out here this winter. It's cold, windy and gray. I guess you might say Joel and I had the winter blues. This was the perfect opportunity to get a change of scenery and be with family during this sad time. We wanted to surprise our families back home and just sort of show up. Well, we drove about 4 hours before Sydney told us that the funeral was to be a week later. So, we turned around. Joel and I of course couldn't make that work with our jobs and etc. A week later we packed up the van and drove a straight 24 hours back home. With the exception of a 45 minute Pizza Hut break, and stops for gas, we were moving. We used Van's Fisher Price training potty while on the road. Mardi slept on the floor and Mom and Dad took turns sleeping on the floor too. The kids were fantastic! We were so happy with how things went with the travel.
I didn't know Grandma Sherry that well, but I can tell you from what I do know, she was an amazing woman. She wasn't the type of grandma that was sewing quilts or baking pies. She was the grandma that would curse if the meat was over cooked at dinner. She was the one that would yell at the kids to "knock it off". She had a sort of sour look to her. But deep down she was very genuine and loving. She adored watching her grandkids. Dallyn spent a lot of weekends and overnighters at her place. She was the rock to her family and always seemed to be the one holding everyone together. There was nothing phony about Grandma Sherry, she was real. She spoke from her heart, things weren't sugar coated. She will deeply be missed.
I wish I had a better picture of our family with her, but this will have to do. Halloween 2010.
